Yes,
there really is a "Mama Shaw". Born and raised in
Florida's panhandle on the Gulf of Mexico, she grew up with
the Apalachicola Bay and River as her playground. She
graduated with a degree in Chemistry from Florida State
College for Women (now FSU) in 1933, by earning a Dining
Room Scholarship and selling newspapers. She returned
home to teach school. That career was interrupted by a
whirlwind romance when she was swept away by the dashing
John Shaw; a gentleman from New Jersey with his heart in the
seafood business and his eye on the future. Now, many
years later, Mama Shaw is still following his dream as
Chairman of the Board for the successful family business he
established. She proudly and personally invites you to
try all of her delicious seafood delicacies.
